Reach

Tala looked at her hands and willed her power forward. It’s not like anyone could see her, she’d run too far. Darkness gathered in her hand, glittering every so often like the night sky. She smiled. How could people fear this beauty? Sure, her people’s stories spoke of the danger of shadow casters and how they brought chaos to those around them. This tiny ball surely couldn’t be what they were talking about. Still, maybe best to not tell anyone yet. People were still too afraid of somethign that had happened before her time. She threw the ball between her hands, smiling and leaning back into the tree. A branch cracked behind her and she jumped to her feed. The shadow ball disappeared and she drew one of her swords.

She scanned around her and didn’t see anything but the trees. Closing her eyes, she sent out her senses and didn’t feel anything. Sighing, she sheathed her sword. If she didn’t head back now, she might be late to training. That wasn’t a mistake she wanted to make again. Tala had no interest in cleaning the training grounds again. Nahuel would definitely not let her live it down. She stretched her arms and back and began the run home, unaware of the man watching her leave the safety of the trees, smiling.
